Artist's Statement

This page is for the artwork I created in my Creative Core 3D Design class.

I came into this class not exactly sure what to expect, I haven't done much 3-dimensional work before.  I feel like I developed a specific way of thinking while creating each of these projects.  With each project, I tried to think of a way to make it divert from the typical use of the material.  For example, when using wood, I tried to make more organic forms with it, even though it would have been easier to try and stick to the geometric.  Another good example of this is how I thought of the cardboard for the chair project as a big sheet of paper.  Instead of cutting it up into pieces that would fit together, I just folded the whole piece into the form.  This playful perspective on the projects led to many interesting and interactive pieces.  The foam board project, for example, can be taken apart and put back together, kind of like a children's toy.  It was this new way of looking at material that allowed me to make whimsical pieces.
